Relief Print/ Dark Energy

Print plate

The relief print was simple to understand and easy to construct, but without the correct height on the texture it didn't work quite as I expected. The first I made was disappointing to say the least. However, I am pleased with one of the results. (Dark energy)

Joe

When we were given this assignment I was racking my brain for a story to tell in a collage. After lots of contemplation I finally decided to do this piece about one of my brothers Joe. Most of the inspiration in this piece comes from his back round in music and other personal battles he faced. since a young age he was fascinated with music, specifically the guitar. For one of his birthdays my mom bought him a guitar and some twenty years later he hasn't put it down. He didn't have a classical teacher, other than books he could find and repetition of chords until they were engraved in his brain (and ours as well). In spite of never being taught how to play the instrument i believe he is one of the best you'll ever hear. I'm not just saying that because he's family, i legitimately think so.

This piece uses distortion very mildly but it is there. The eye not only was a different perspective but also a slightly different size than the bottom half of the face. As well as the smaller man with dreadlocks in the top middle, he is out of proportion with the face i tried to convey in the collage.
